Explore the Emilia-Romagna region with Marco
[code_snippet id=9 format]

Throughout the week, our primary focus remains the immersive study of the Italian language under Marco’s guidance. Expect lively visits to charming cafes, market excursions, and engaging interactions with locals as we practice the most romantic of all the romance languages together.
Music:
Parma is also famous for music. The composer Giuseppe Verdi was born in the countryside nearby. It was at the Teatro Regio, a 19th-century opera house, where he became famous. It is considered by opera buffs to be one of the true homes of the great Italian tradition and has hosted many Italian composers like Donizetti and Bellini and singers of the highest caliber. Also born in Parma was the conductor Arturo Toscanini. So we will definitely attend a performance in this venerated theater.
Andiamo! Join Marco for another fun adventure learning Italian in Italy!

Parma is a city located in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. It is known for its rich history, architecture, music, art, prosciutto (ham), cheese, and surrounding countryside.
Parma is not only a beautiful city but also the epicenter of food and culture. It is acknowledged within Italy as having the country's best food, being the "home" of Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, balsamic vinegar, and tortellini, among other dishes. The region's great food is attributed to its diverse geography, which includes the sea, plains, mountains, and hills.
Parma has a prestigious collection of art and historical items, including works and documents concerning the Duchy of Parma in the 18th and 19th centuries. Notable landmarks in the city include the Palazzo della Pilotta, the church of Sta. Maria della Steccata, the abbey of S. Paolo, and the Farnese Theatre.
The university in Parma was founded in the 11th century and reorganized in 1601 by Ranuccio I Farnese.
During World War II, Parma was extensively damaged by Allied bombardment but has been entirely restored.

Marco has been teaching Italian for all levels for 20 years. He grew up in Vicenza, in northern Italy, and now lives between Milano and New York. He teaches at Scuola Italiano and part-time at Bocconi, a technical university in Milan.
In addition to his Italian teaching, Marco is a professional ballet choreographer. He won the 2016 Primi Dieci USA Award, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as one of the ten most influential Italians in the USA.
He’s been one of New York Theatre Ballet’s resident choreographers since 2012. As an Opera choreographer, he has worked extensively in the US and abroad. In 2017, Marco Pelle had his directorial debut with Florida Grand Opera, directing and choreographing Un Ballo in Maschera. In 2018, he became the ballet choreographer of the TV series "Pose".
