Barrett Edwards
Naples, FL resident Barrett Edwards is an award–winning representational oil painter whose work first drew attention in Paris, France, where her introductory exhibition sold out. Barrett has since established herself as a popular plein air and studio painter and workshop instructor in Europe and the US. Her paintings are in collections in Europe and the United States, and were juried into the Grand Palais in Paris for the International Salon d’Autumne. She has won recognition in numerous solo and group exhibitions for her nuanced play of color and light, flavored with emotion. Barrett works with both brush and palette knife, concentrating primarily on her three favorite subjects: the Tuscan and Provencal landscapes, the Colorado Rockies, and the moody coastal marshes of South Georgia.
Barrett has studied under Tom Nicholas, Andrew Peters, Larry Blovits, Skip Lawrence and Andrew Braitman, refining her own personal painting style. Her popular workshops are marked by her enthusiasm and her ability to work closely with each student, adjusting to each person’s individual needs and experience level. Many of her students return to her various workshops because she takes the fear out of learning and infuses her teaching with gentle humor.
Barrett is a member of Oil Painters of America, Portrait Society of America, Plein Air Painters of Colorado, Women Artists of the West, The Tumbleweed Painters Group, and the United Arts Council of Florida.
