Jean Cauthen
Jean Cauthen graduated from James Madison University with an MFA in Painting/Drawing. She is currently an art professor at UNC-Charlotte. In addition to her popular studio classes, she is often called on to present Art History lectures. She brings this depth of knowledge to her students for a full painting experience. Known for her humor, enthusiasm, generosity and patience, Jean seeks to nurture the artist in every student.
For beginning artists, her goal is to provide the student with strong fundamentals so that they can build from what they learn in her workshops. More advanced students appreciate the motivation to find “their own visual language” in their painting while never forgetting the essentials.
Jean has exhibited extensively and won many awards for painting and teaching.
